WINTERSPRING
FARM SHOW
FRIESIANS
Kasper
Kasper is an 18 year old Friesian gelding.
He was born in Holland and was imported to Canada by
Miles Heselding, a former president of FHANA.
Kasper was shown in Canada in combined driving events,
and was the regional champion in intermediate driven dressage.
Soon thereafter, Kasper’s owner succumbed to cancer.
Kasper was purchased in 1998 by WinterSpring Farm
Friesians, and imported to the United States.
Kasper was my schoolmaster horse, and taught me to drive.
He knew far more about driving that I.
I also sought professional driving instruction from Lisa Singer
and Dana Bright. Soon
Kasper and I were a winning pair.
Although we have won many blue ribbons, by far the highlight of
our driving career was winning two blue ribbons at the famed
Walnut Hill driving competition in Pittsford, New York.
The Walnut Hill show is truly a classic.
Over 250 exhibitors come from more than 20 states, Canada
and Europe compete. The
setting is magnificent. The
competition attempts to recapture the Gilded Age of the 1890's
where elegant carriages transported their owners in a style
fitting their taste and position in society.
Walnut Hill is the largest show of its kind in the world.

In June of 2004, Kasper was the Grand Champion Single Horse, at
the Brandywine show. He won first place in Ladies Pleasure,
Working Pleasure, Gambler’s Choice, Single Horse Pleasure
Driving, and together we also won the reinsmanship championship.
Kasper is our mentor, our champion, and our love.
He is not for sale, and someday, when he acts his age, he
will retire here at WinterSpring Farm.
